FAQfor Single Shaft Shredder HL 1222 FAQs

The HL 1222 is a heavy-duty industrial single shaft shredder featuring an approximate 1,200 mm rotor diameter and a 2,200 mm active cutting chamber width. Engineered for mid-to-high-capacity recycling facilities, plastic processing operations, and commercial manufacturing plants, the HL 1222 handles bulky, dense, and irregular feed materials by combining high-torque rotor rotation with a heavy-duty hydraulic pusher ram.

  • Cutting Chamber Dimensions: Approx. 1,200 mm rotor diameter × 2,200 mm cutting width.
  • Drive Power: 75 kW to 110 kW heavy industrial electric motor drive.
  • Hydraulic Ram: Multi-speed horizontal load-sensing ram (typically 7.5 kW to 11 kW hydraulic pack).
  • Rotor Knives: 4-way indexable concave or flat square cutting teeth manufactured from hardened D2/DC53 tool steel.
  • Screen Apertures: Modular bottom classification screens ranging from 20 mm to 80 mm.
  • Machine Weight: Approx. 12,000 kg to 15,000 kg heavy fabricated steel frame.
  • Rigid & Hollow Plastics: Plastic drums, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), crates, purge lumps, and HDPE piping.
  • Bulky Timber Scrap: Clean pallets, furniture frames, MDF offcuts, and wood waste.
  • Film & Flexible Polymers: Agricultural films, post-industrial packaging rolls, and woven PP bulk bags (FIBCs).
  • Commercial & Industrial Refuse: High-volume paper bales, packaging corrugate, and non-metallic light production scrap.

The HL 1222 uses an internal horizontal hydraulic ram that pushes low-density, bulky waste directly into the rotor’s cutting arc, Because the ram’s hydraulic control system links directly to the electric drive motor’s amperage, it pushes aggressively when the load is low and automatically pauses or eases back if motor amperage rises, preventing rotor stalling and shock loads.

Beneath the rotor is an interchangeable curved classification screen. Material remains in the cutting zone until reduced smaller than the screen apertures (e.g., 30 mm, 40 mm, or 50 mm). Pieces small enough drop directly onto the takeaway conveyor, while oversized fragments are carried back up for another cutting pass against the stationary counter-knives.

  • Automatic Jam Protection: In the event of an uncrushable object or overload, the control system reverses the rotor momentarily and retracts the ram.
  • Dual-Channel Safety Interlocks: Maintenance doors, screen cradles, and hopper hatches are electrically interlocked (AS/NZS 4024 compliant) to prevent operation while open.
  • Hydraulically Opening Screen Cradle: Enables quick, safe screen replacement and chamber cleaning without manual crane rigging.
